So my sisters, my brother-in-law, and I have embarked on a roleplaying game (with my BIL being the DM). Despite being a nerd for years, RPGs have never been my thing (I’d rather write the story or read the story than play the story), so yesterday was a new and different experience for me. Because we were all playing established characters, our stats were pre-decided for us by the DM. And it’s a Marvel roleplay, so the team consists of Kate Bishop, Carol Danvers, and Jen Walters. Now, I’m familiar with Carol and my sister Chelsea is familiar with Kate, but since we didn’t allow OCs, we let my sister Grace pick at random and she chose She-Hulk…knowing absolutely nothing about the legal profession or She-Hulk herself.
In the course of a day of gameplay, we all got drugged, Carol dropped Kate thirty-feet onto concrete, Carol pissed off Tony Stark, annoyed Thor, and burned most of their bridges with the police, and She-Hulk couldn’t legal her way out of a paper bag. Also, because my sister and I love each other a lot, Carol and Kate spent the entire game snarking at each other. I need to look up like twenty insults about youth this week since Kate's now calling Carol "Stone Ages."
This is going to be a fun game.
I also need to look up more battle moves than “I punch this person in the face.” Even though I’m pretty sure that’s what Carol does.
However, I did manage to outsmart the DM at one point by making the claim that, “Yes, after Rhodey and Jessica, Thor might be on my to-call list to handle a problem.” And then I sent a minion to summon Huginn or Muginn. Bro-in-Law looked at me like, “…Really?”
Carol Danvers is not above using magical birdseed to get her way, y’all. Our villains appear to be Bullseye, Taskmaster, and Deadpool.
I might write up yesterday’s events as a fanfic and give it to the group for next week. Or I’ll finish working on That Which is Greater and move on to my next WIP, which is TBD.
Saw Pacific Rim on Friday. It was interesting and I liked everybody, but I suffered from Action Movie Fatigue by the end. When we got the final battle, I just wanted it to be over already. Perhaps I am not the right demographic for robots beating on aliens, but I liked the rest of the movie, particularly Mako.
