Have been buried in fic and wedding stuff lately. And TV watching, of course. I read a rumor that Community might get picked up for a fifth season, which is a little surprising to me, given the rigmarole that NBC put it through, so that seems like every single show I currently watch is coming back for another season. It feels really strange to say that.
Chicago Fire managed to be both really good and the worst this week. I hate Severide’s storyline with an intense passion. Sexual assault victims get enough bullshit to deal with and do not need the TV industry piling more stories of false accusations on top of them. When they first debuted the story, I was disgusted, but Severide really managed to make it worse. I mean, I know we saw the whole scene, so we know that Brooke Nevin’s character ( I think her name was Nicky? I don’t actually care, I’m just annoyed that the woman who played Rachel in the Animorphs TV show* keeps getting such thankless roles) is accusing him falsely and that the charges are bogus. But Severide goes and stalks her where she’s shopping and at her work, and it was sending off major alarm bells for me because HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE. To make it worse, there was another Poor Man that has to work at a copy shop with his MBA because this woman lied. Women are predators, you guys! Women are the worst!
I really enjoyed Dawson’s storyline. I’m seeing a lot of people saying it wasn’t Dawson’s place to tell PeterMills what she witnessed between Boden and Severide-the-Asshole-Senior, but really, it’s not Boden’s place to expect Dawson to keep that secret. Sorry: the dude you’re thinking about moving in with comes first. But after the final scene, I totally understand why people are beginning to suffer from PeterMills Fatigue Syndrome.
Worst of all, no Shay storyline, though I continue to enjoy her friendship with Dawson.
Arrow also managed to be both really good and the worst. Lots of Felicity, which was a plus, but then more WTFery with a love triangle I give absolutely no bothers about. I just have no interest in Laurel in any way. She was okay when she was beating down random thugs breaking into her apartment-Black Canary origins, I guess-but even a great actress (which I am not convinced Katie Cassidy is) can’t do much with that writing.
Also, apparently apple pie is not an appropriate substitute lunch because I am very hungry now.
