Thank you Daniel - your mentioning that you updated LJ today reminded me that it had been FOREVER since I did so.

So.

I am a bit befuddled. Where do I begin? Also I should be writing the Hillel e-mail and getting some work done. bad, bad, Jessica.

So, to be brief:

Long conversations with amazing friends are...amazing. Yes. So tht should cover practically all of Friday, as well as last night and some of today.

I have the best religious school class on the planet. They are sooo enthusiastic. I mean, like "Yippee! We are going to learn today!" Like a class out of Barney or something. And the substitute for the other 3rd grade class sent me the nicest e-mail today:

"Hi Jessica:

Thanks for the letter to parents, and I wanted to say thanks for your
great teaching, too. The students found your cracker-eating recitation
exercise lots of fun and were very absorbed in your story. Your
enthusiasm is contagious!

Keep it up!"

Classes are going wonderfully. All of them. Sooo interesting - I really love Black Power Narratives because we read the books so well - you know what I mean? Delving into deeper meanings, really getting so much out of them, even if it means getting behind schedule a little. The professor is really passionate and really wants us to get as much as possible out of the literature - he wants it to matter. And then ENGL 381 is just fabulous. With the professor's low, poetic voice, and the sheer enjoyment she seems to bring to these works of literature...oh and my transatlantic lit class is a perfect dream! I think I would discuss Jane Eyre for hours just on my own, but imagine being in a small group of people who are not only excited to do so for 2 1/2 hours at a time, but are thoroughly knowledgeable - they know soooo much more than I do. Which may hurt my grade in the class, but I think maybe that doesn't matter to me so much - I am learning so much. And that's what I'm here for. And Hebrew is AMAZING - partially because I'm learning Hebrew, so how could it not be amazing, and partially because I have so many friends in the class, that it is lovely to go there every morning. And my Jewish class is fabulous. Albeit not my favorite class, as philosophy is not my strong suit. And really, I'm having trouble grasping exactly what the class is about, per se. Which may be a problem.

And Blue Notes is fabulous - come see us Tuesday, 5:45pm in the amphitheatre - we'll be performing Mac the Knife, Birdland, and Sir Duke - and I'll be doing percussion for Sir Duke (recently acquired skill, as of this afternoon - so I can't promise it will be any good, but darn exciting!)

And...well...what else? I don't know. Everything is fabulous. And wonderful. And coming up roses and daffodils.

:)
