Movie: From Paris with Love

I saw this film on Sunday and it was, to be honest, better than I expected. Not a masterpiece, and I've seen Luc Besson do better, but it was still entertaining in parts.

Including little titbits of dialogue that made me laugh, like this one:

(paraphrased, because I had the pleasure (not!) to watch this dubbed)

Wax (John Travolta): I've always wondered what a kid like you does when he's imprisoned at home.
Reece (Jonathan Rhys Meyers): Watching lots of Star Trek.
Wax: Kirk or Spock?
Reece: Uhura!

Performance-wise, John Travolta's Wax was way over-the-top, but it was okay for the movie - it worked. Jonathan Rhys Meyers' performance was also quite decent, I thought, trying to bring a little heart into the movie.

There was lots of blood and shootings, but also comical elements / moments bringing the relief. The downside was that at times, I thought the storytelling was a bit too fast, too confusing, and I'm still not entirely clear why Reece had to walk around with a vase full of cocaine during half of the movie.

Rating: 7/10
