(no subject)

I got a promotion at work. Now, instead of being an editor/photographer (technically videographer), I'm just a photographer. And while that may not sound much better, my currect position is considered a training position with the expectation of moving to one or the other. It means a raise, better hours, and a little more cred at the station which is nice.

However, the circumstances for my promotion aren't so nice. One of our camera guys (or photogs as they're called in the biz) got canned. The official reason is "Reckless use of company equipment," but no one knows of anything he did that fits that description. Plus, there have been photogs in the past that have dented cars, dropped cameras (on their multi-thousand dollar lenses), etc. who have not been let go. Plus, plus, he never got any warnings or anything, which is, like, standard practice in Corporate America. It may have something to do with his supposed inability to get along with one of the reporters. But if that's the case, that's pretty shitty. Luckily I am on good terms with said reporter.

On another subject, I was thinking about the episode of the Simpsons where Marge is in the musical version of "A Streetcar Named Desire." During the final musical number, the chorus sings, "A strangers just a friend you haven't met." Man, that's funny.
