November so far

Just returned from a quick trip to Duluth that followed a longer loop around Lake Michigan.

Well...just returned a few days ago.

Monday, I wanted to come in and work on my house, but decided to clean up my dad's woodshop with literally had two inches of sawdust on most of the floor and probably a good 1/16 of fine dust everywhere else. I vacummed about everything I could. Like with most diseases, there's very little anyone can do...reducing the fine particulate matter in the air when he works in the shop can't hurt his lungs at any rate.

Tuesday, I came in a little dressed up, and enjoyed parading myself around town. I found a MOMA silk tie at the Salvation army for .75 and one of the coolest pulp paperbacks I've ever seen, "I was a Nazi Flier"...published in 1941 and a piece of pro-involvement propaganda. The back cover has a pic of a US city with a swastika covering it saying, Keep Planes Off Our Shores (or something similar) as an advertisement for War Bonds. A quick bit of research shows this must have hit the press in December, as the bonds were called Defense Bonds prior to the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Check this link to see a pic of the front cover (at the library and limited in my cutting and pasting, sorry).

Yesterday, couldn't get moving, but thinned out about 50 CD's from my "archives" and dropped 'em off for a church sale on my way into town this morning. Watched the Conan Obrien documentary at Marty's, which was really dull. But then saw a great claymation film called Mary and Max. Great for people who like letters and fart jokes...oh, and one of the voices is by Phil Seymore Hoffman. Good stuff.

Today got outta the house by 10, but then decided I needed to hike around presque isle, thrift vinnies (got about a dozen interesting--i.e. not superhero graphic novels for $16), ate one of those burgers Hardee's has been pushing (really good...really), and am now off to a constituents meeting at Dead River.

Could be interesting.

Oh, and straightened up my place quite a bit.
