I will probably have to set up a new Mac (g4) and install a bunch of stuff on it. This seems self-explanatory enough from here, even given that i know less than jack patoot about Macs, but a) i know i will run into weird questions and b) i have to couple the vga monitor with said machine which involves a converter (which i will have) and "setting ( Read more... )

This might very well be. I see two outlets on the rear of the g4 that appear to be designated for a monitor, one of which appears to fit the vga, and the other i can only presume is made for a standard mac monitor, bcs it is of a bizarre and alien form.
I'm'a see what happens when i plug the monitor into this less-alien jack, and if it explodes or the screen remains black, come crawling back to lj ;).
Thanks, aunty! Love,

In any case, you're right, and it works, hooray. I'm glad you told me that, bcs otherwise i might have thought, "no, it'd be far, far too simple for the monitor to actually go into the back of this box unassisted, there has to be a catch".
But no, some smarty at Macland finally learned that maybe solely proprietary monitors are not the world's best idea ;p.
But in all reality, for the most part, i love macs. i just haven't had the opp'y to use one since, like, 1996, until now.
Hugs to you too,
-f.
