As I sit here writing in my livejournal instead of writing in my paper that's due tomorrow, I am thinking a bit about the future.
I've been entertaining the thought of changing the concentration of my Media Studies major from Film and Video Production to Film and Television Studies. There are reasons why it would be a good idea:
1. The classes required by my current concentration will likely prove useless to me in the long run, if I actually become a psychologist.
2. A concentration in Film and TV Studies would involve a lot of writing, which I would be doing plenty of as a psychologist anyway so I'd better get used to it.
3. It's only a matter of a few classes, one of which is "Public Opinion and Mass Communication". That class seems interesting.
4. It's my secondary major anyway.
There are also reasons why it would be a bad idea:
1. I may have wasted my time with a few classes I've already taken.
2. I'm not a film buff, nor do I intend to become one. I like movies, but for some reason (ADD? ADHD?) I rarely make time to watch them.
3. I don't really enjoy writing about film. I'm good at it, apparently...my grades in Film Criticism attest to that...but it's just not rewarding to me.
4. The production classes, though more time-consuming, seem more fun.
But who knows. I was talking to my Psych professor the other day and mentioned my interest in Media Psychology. He brought up UI Chicago. I don't know though. I kind of want to go to Stanford, but I think a large part of that has to do with this man:
Well, that's enough time wasted.
