It was a really Merry Xmas!

I was looking for a very kitsch Xmas postcard but seems I have already used all of them. I wanted some old village church in a snowy landscape but didn't find it.

The midnight mass, which wasn't at midnight, was joyful and really festive: I heard and sang old carols I hadn't heard for ages and the people attending the celebration were as various as those you can meet in the streets: all ages, all colours, all (apparent) social classes and as many men as women. I am pleased with the evolution of my parish: It has become more active and fraternal, with a lot of support to the poor, the lonely and the sick. Which reminds me I personally doesn't do anything. Will think of it when retired...

The less pleasant prospect of the upcoming New Year is that, given the results of a recent colonoscopy, I must expect rather soon a major surgery: seems I'll have to live without a piece of my bowels, not a big piece, and the - rather common - intervention (no, it's not appendicitis) is no more complicated than really dangerous. Several of my friends had it and recovered (more or less) easily but, of course, I don't feel enthusiastic about it.

A scan was planned for tomorrow morning. I say: was planned: until the cat decided to play with the box containing the needed stuff I had just taken from the pharmacy and threw it down to the tiled floor: Boom! The only thing I could do was to mop the liquid and salvage the printed documents which were in the same bag.

And now I have to explain to the medics I must postpone the exam and be given another appointment because of a cat. Shame...
