Foxes: All's Well that Ends Well (Whew!)

Aug 29, 2008 20:41

Woo-Hoo! Tourney of the Foxes is now complete! I was so worried prior to the event about the newspaper article overloading us with Newcomers beyond our capacity, but WOW! I have to say that the newcomer Gods must have been smiling on us...
I was amazed and pleased at how well everyone pulled together to wrangle all the newbies...

I had by best friend's husband Bjorn come down from Thor's mountain and he played gate guard and directed all the newbie folks back to the feast hall at the rear of site. The Troll staff working the morning shift directed newcomers to Lady Diana who herded them to the Gold Key Cabin (her cabin-smart girl that she picked a close cabin!), and there is a lady in our kingdom named Katerina who is really big on newcomers, who ENTIRELY by chance showed up and grabbed the cabin righ next to Lady Di. I saw Katerina on Friday night and quickly gave her the backstory on the Newspaper article. She was hyped!, I noticed that she had successfully wrangled a few because there are these Medallions that she gives out that say NC for newcomer that are in black and white and they have this diamond in them...how can you miss that? She also kept a file of articles for handing out in case anyone had immediate interests...

Oh, and the icing on the cake, Marianne and Bébhinn agreed to man an extended troll shift. We normally close troll at noon, and they worked it till nearly 3PM. Wow.

What a huge huge relief! I am sooo lucky, and sooo incredibly incredibly amazingly greatful for all the help. Everyone worked so well and I could not have hoped or dreamed for better. I'm quite sure I've expended all of my good karma.

That being said, One of the people who really went above and beyond, who might as well have been my co-autocrat was our Reeve, Lady Ragnhildr Sigtryggsdottir.

Before the event even started she had already earned an hand-knit draw-string pouch with her device on it. I've used my 40% off coupons to buy the wool yarn and will be working on charting her device:

Per bend sinister vert and azure, a bend sinister cotised between a wyvern sejant and a dolphin urinant argent.

This is my rather crude rendition. I haven't had time to dowload the image software that a friend gave me but I worked this out in paint of all things.

To get an idea of what the pouches will look like, visit my mundane blog (the link is on my profile page). I'm about to hop over to it to post some pics of pouches I've recently knit up. Just imagine them with tassels and drawstrings in complimentary colors.
