Functional again and working on the Bishop's Mantle

Well, I'm lucid, and my voice is coming back.

I've returned to going to my mundane sewing circle and have been taking Magnus' Bishop's mantle project with me.
I had all the layers cut out including the batting when the flu hit. So when I returned I started the quilting in. Did a line down the middle back, and doing one down eaeach side to stabalize Think of the opening as 6 o'clock, and I've done radiating lines at 9 noon, and 3 o'clock. Working on quilting the edges into place on half of it. I'm turning the seams under and doing a double running stitch to hold it down. I'm using this natural handspun linen thread I bought at Pennsic.

The ladies at the mundane sewing class are confused by the project but are fascinated with the linen fabric and the linen thread and the look it has when used for quilting. They like the chunkiness of it. They stil don't understand how someone would wear it but once I have the collar on and put in the grommets I think they will understand. Although if space allows, I'm doing handsewn eyelets and not metal grommets. It might be uncecessary and aren't really period looking. And after all the trouble I had him go through to get grommets. He can use them for another project later. He's got a lifetime of armor to make so it won't be a problem in the long run.

It feels nice to be productive.

All the girls on the Meridian Gardens list are talking about their spring planting projects. I feel so behind having had the flu. I want to go out and weed my beds and till some soil and get some new beds set up for lettuce. I'm afraid I'll have to rent a tiller. May post and see if anyone has one and wants to make an extra buck tilling my yard. That's a thought!

Don't think I'll be going to Black Gryfon. I'm still too tired and now too broke to go. Still sleeping lots and afraid of getting another cold and still coughing up little bits in the morning. I expect I'll be fine by this weekend but I have 3 weeks of mundane and SCA catchup to do so an event is unlikely this weekend.

But overall I'm happy just not being deathly ill and able to take a super deep breath without falling into a coughing fit.

Still not smoking!  WOO HOO! 20 days and counting! (quit on January 22nd). Definitey not craving them while driving. That was the hardest thing. I don't even think about it when driving becasue it's too cold to roll down the window to smoke anyway. I just want to stay warm. Boy is having a hard time of it cause I don't let him smoke when he's in the truck with me. I don't want to be tempted. It is starting to smell awful to me now. YAY!
