soooooo sleeeeeepy
What a lovely weekend! Too bad it was only two days long...
Yesterday morning I did all sorts of things for myself that I usually postpone -- I cleaned the apartment, I worked out, I practiced the piano. In the afternoon I went to visit a new friend. She immigrated to the US from Russia, and it was fascinating to hear her talk about her youth in the Soviet Union. She and her daughter are both artists, and her house was full of flowers and art. In the evening I joined sillymagpie at wildrider and rahirah 's home, and enjoyed locally made tamales with special cheese sauce. The dessert was flourless chocolate cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. We sipped chocolate wine (just like Bailey's!) and watched Paint Your Wagon. What fun!
This morning I felt sluggish and unmotivated -- thank goodness sillymagpie and I had made plans for a "work-date!" We went to a nearby coffee shop and settled down for several hours of productivity. Even now I feel very accomplished. For dinner we went to a nearby Vietnamese restaurant -- always one of my favorite cuisines. I drove straight from dinner to the church where my choir will perform tomorrow night for a dress rehearsal. It was a late night, but I feel more confident about the concert now. After I got home I ate the longans that rahirah and wildrider gave me last night -- there's nothing quite like the sweetness of fresh longans!
And now I must sleep to prepare for a long -- but probably good -- day tomorrow. But first:
Today I am thankful for reality and fantasies. May I always recognize and appreciate them both.
