plenitude

Class was wonderful today! Or at least it seemed that way from my perspective. I know that I have a lot still to learn as a teacher, which is part of what makes the endeavor so exciting. Some of you will scoff at this, but I am, by nature, a "lazy" person -- I rarely do much more than what is necessary. This made me a good student, but is not so good for my teaching or research. I hope that with time and cumulative interest, I will acquire the kind of familiarity, abiding affection, and leisurely curiosity toward the subjects I teach that I hold toward fan fiction. Anyway, I think I managed to tell my students what they can realistically expect from my class, which is good.

This is my October calendar picture:

Hee hee :) .

After class I napped. I took two hours to catch up to bills, some filing, and some correspondence (still piles to go...) Shopped for tomorrow's party (still need to do laundry and clean bathroom -- tomorrow morning!) and made a yummy pasta and broccoli dinner, just in time to welcome AS home! We're really good for each other, I think. Her stuff will be arriving (finally! -- there was a whole saga with her NOT NICE moving company that will finally be over...) on Wednesday, which is definitely something to look forward to.

Zipped over to REDCAT downtown to attend the Helen Hill Memorial screening -- really wonderful work, really sad occasion. Helen Hill was such an energetic, generous, and playful human being -- and she was killed in such a horrific, senseless way. It was especially moving to hear the tributes from her family and friends. I wish I had known her in person, which would have been quite likely had she not died, since I knew a good part of the audience -- the experimental animation circle is loose but not large. Her work speaks -- sings, in fact -- and will continue to cheer and comfort, educate and edify.

Wiped. Full day tomorrow; much to do. But I am grateful. It will be a month of plenitude.
