Things have been going by fast here...and slow. It's weird that way.
I've had fun meeting the kids and getting to know them. A fair number are into anime and gaming and the like, and then the ppl in bio are of course interested in bio. I'm heading the GFP team project with Andy, which should go ok.
New things...Dave, the big cuddly physics TA who reminds Amy and me of Stix, has been dubbed Bjorn (with a slash and umlaut (sp?) thru and over the o) and is now the leader of the Federated States of Bjorn on the 5th floor. There are photoshop posters littering the dorms depicting him in various poses and whatnot. I am high priestess of the town. It is quite amusing.
My computer has been kicked off the network here 3 times, and hopefully won't be again. Now however the sound does not work. At all.
G brought a ton of games that I've had much fun learning to play. Weird games, some like you'd find at GAPS, like Settlers of Catan, and then others, like Lost Cities, Bohnanza, Blue Moon, and some others. Learned Catassen (sp?) tonight. Oh, and I started Mau, hehehe....more ppl here know of it than my year, but it still goes well.
Social Events...
Double Dare was amusing. I can't believe Reid actually wrote his name with his tongue in horseradish sauce.
Giant Twister was also amusing, tho I didn't get to see as much as I had desk duty.
70s and 80s night was great. Michelle and I set it up, and I had some good posters and did a lot with streamers, with help from Josh, Amy, and Jack. Everyone of the TAs dressed up. Amy and I took Josh to goodwill and got him this awesome purple 70s shirt (actually a women's, but he cut out the shoulder pads, hehe), and I got to dress Giancarlo and Jack up at Crimes of Fashion with a green patterned 70s shirt and green pants for Giancarlo and then a yellow colorful shirt for Jack. I wore black leather heeled boots, fishnet stockings, black leather miniskirt, a black tank top with a big (what I thought was 80s-looking) maroon sweater with black leopard spots that hung down over my shoulders. Then I did my hair in a big ponytail off the top right and I put on red lipstick and used blush to make red eyeshadow. Topped off with some eyeliner and mascara and I looked like a whore! hehehe. There was much dancing (beginning with our entrance with an amalgamation of moves we'd learned the night before) and much sitting in front of fans. It was a lot of fun ^_^
Saturday was Goofy Olympics, which I filmed and had much fun watching. There were 14 teams of 4 including two TA teams, and events included a lifesaver-straw thing, wheelbarrow relay, potato balloon thing (don't ask), pudding feeding, waterballoon toss, and 5-legged race.
I skipped the Pirates game on Sunday and instead took 7 students and Jack to see Spiderman 2 which was pretty good. Then that night we went to Schenley park and played frisbee before watching the fireworks. It wasn't much to see from there, but still fun.
The Newly Roommated Game was fun, tho I had to videotape it. Josh hosted and Amy and Margaret helped, and at one point Jack and Dave were in it.
Swing night was last night, and I got to brush up on some of my moves, but overall there weren't enough guys to go around and so I let the girl students have them. I did get Bjorn to dance a bit, which was hilarious ^_^
Other after-lounge clear activities have included watching Zoolander (ok movie), Aqua Teen Hunger Force, going out for pizza and the like, playing various games like Mystery of the Abbey (new game G just got, like Clue on crack), and just staying up.
And tonight....tonight I sat at the desk for a while helping ppl with Bio, and then worked some more...played some games til Lounge Clear, then G brought down DDR. We all took turns, and I was one of the worst ppl, tho I did ok (I think I cleared the stage once or twice). Amy and Josh were pretty good, and Bjorn did amazing for his first time. G of course, having owned the thing, did great and we watched him go thru all these really hard levels. It was fun....and afterwards we continued watching Lain, which we had started the night before. I rented it from Starbase one, which I found on the second floor of some building, having moved from its original spot. I got the first two dvds, and we watched them all, Amy, G, Josh, Joel, Jack, Amy Amy, Bjorn, and I, and they seem to like them. We'll watch more later.
Anyways, now I'm planning the Nerd Night dance, and have/am d/ling a bunch of songs ppl requested, like Homestar runner stuff, some They Might Be Giants, Monty Python, etc. And tomorrow night's Murder Mystery Night, which I'm looking forward to.
On another note, I miss my Jonathan. It's not like when he was away the month before in Indiana, and I was at home...here I'm around ppl my age, I'm having to see ppl cuddling on the couch and whatnot a lot of the time...it just makes me miss him and want to be close to ppl (esp him). *sigh* I'll get thru it at some point I suppose, or just find a way around it.
I've been going thru a down streak the last day or two is all...I need to think...or not. I'm not sure. I need to rationalize, as much as I don't want to...I just want to feel...but...blah. I'm rambling...or musing as I used to call it. Works better bounced off someone, but I'm not sure I can/should. It's ok tho, I'm sure it'll pass else I'll figure out how to deal.
I wish my speakers worked. Oh so much.
And I wish I had my Jonathan...more than anything...
