A couple of months back I had a migraine with a funky new symptom which sufficiently concerned my GP that she sent me off for a CT brain scan and now to a migraine specialist. I had my second appointment with him today after a month of tracking headaches and diet. He has put me on a migraine minimize diet which is quiet similar to the diet I was on while I was doing IVF and some new drugs, an anti-inflammatory and epilim, which is mostly used to treat epilepsy and has some potentially nasty side effects including impacting liver function. Given my previous history with liver issues, I will have to go in for probably monthly liver enzyme tests for the first 6 months to make sure I'm not developing jaundice.
Sometimes when I get migraines I feel like a total fraud, like Wednesday just gone, where the headache component was rather mild. It was the spots in front of the eyes, the nausea, vertigo and light sensitivity that made it unpleasant. If I was resting horizontal and staying still I felt fine. If I stood up I wanted to puke. Hopefully the new treatment will alleviate the other symptoms. We'll see.
