*Having found out that he apparently now has a job at the library, Albedo reluctantly showed up at the start of the workday. Not even five minutes into pretending to work, he's thoroughly disgusted and on the lookout for someone to bother and either distract himself or at least make sure he's not the only one suffering.*

If this place can allow revival, why then could it not allow pure death, Albedo?

What would be the point to offering exclusion from the true cycle of death and rebirth if they had the intent to kill us fully anyway? Seems rather counter to keeping us held here, as well.

It could be for any number of reasons, but the one which occurs to me, is to make a point. Humans fear death, as you have noted, thus this is a powerful threat to them. All that would have to happen is a few to die and not return. It could greatly traumatize others, and make their minds more susceptible to whatever it is the place is trying to do.

*Pinging the loss button, chaos?* Sacrifice of a few to remove what comfort the remainders may have had, eh?

Yes.

If we assume this place is trying to make us conform to it's reality, and the method of which it has been using so far is not working, what better way to move the course of events along than to make people feel insecure?

One of the easiest ways to cause someone insecurity, is to remove the things that they have come to rely on: People, objects, things which are taken for granted as always being. Without, the mind and soul is in turmoil, and easier to manipulate.

I believe you would understand this very well, as you have had experience in manipulating the mind and course of events, along with Wilhelm.

Such an end could be reached by permanently reducing more people to yet more of those dolls that occupy this place. It seems a far greater display of power to me, as well as a greater threat than that of mere death.

But can it actually do so, permanently? What I have seen has been temporary, or the person's consciousness, or soul, seems to leave this place leaving merely a shell behind. As if, the power it has over those here is minimal.

I've yet to encounter one temporarily reduced to that state, but none of us seem to be in a condition to be aware as to whether or not the victim's consciousness has truly escaped its physical shell.

I think I met one before. Was very insistent on asking about school, despite the fact he was bleeding.

That is true. But it is, given what I've heard, my current theory.

Seems rather similar to the dolls I've had to put up with since my arrival.

Yes. But he didn't seem to fit this environment. Either way, I'm fairly sure this hint at death is something to break the people's minds.

And I suppose they expect those of us that don't give in to that fear to be distracted by those that do.

[chaos pauses for a moment, obviously thinking]

I think that they expect those of us who aren't fearful of death, to be fearful of what will happen to the people around us, which we may know. And even if that does not scare us, most people are not comfortable when most of what they are seeing is merely drones, or empty shells.
