It is!
Today is
International Talk Like A Pirate Day! Go ye forth and say things like Arrr, Aye, Avast, Blimey, Matey, and Chumbucket. Because why not?
In other randomness, I have recently bought a good chunk of a new work wardrobe, for the working of in at and near office type places. Because starting in October, the plan is (she says nervously) that I will be back to contract-only work, looking for temp to perm placement. Eeeek! Nervous as a bilge rat in a storm. Or something. But since I haven't worked in an office where anyone gives a jolly roger what I wear (and it's not unusual to see others in sweats, or sometimes even jammies) my work wardrobe has suffered greatly from the march of time. Across fabric as well as my hips. Blast and Damn and dangit! So I had to go buy clothes that actually fit me. And don't look like refugees from the 90s.
All in all, I did pretty well shopping-wise. I'm going to return a few items that, after careful consideration and consultation with others, just don't fit quite as well as I thought. A couple of business jackets and a shirt. But with everything I bought, that's not bad. I still need a few more items, but I ran out of the budget I made for myself, so I will most likely have to wait on those. I'm going to return the jackets and shirt today, so I might get a replacement jacket or two, if I can find affordable ones. (These were both on sale...) And then I'm definitely going to have to get a new pair of black pumps that don't look so dated. Because mine? Are so boring and so obviously from 1998 that it hurts. They're OK with trousers where you can't see them. But they look absolutely yawntastic with a skirt. I feel like I should find a way to use chumbucket here, but really, they aren't quite chumbucket-worthy.
Did I mention I got another pair of boots? Not yet. They were on sale! At Nordstrom Rack! Who could pass up boots on sale at the Rack, when you have a budget for work clothes? Not me, that's for dang sure. And I did not pass them up. They came home with me, and I love them. Almost as much as the completely frivolous pair of shiny green strappy sandals that I bought, which were also on sale. OK, not work appropriate. But I don't care. I'm going to hug them and squeeze them and call them George and wear them out dancing and to dinner and to random appointments that I can wear jeans to. Until it's too cold. Which is, well, today. But I'm sure we'll have some more warm days before it's completely too cold for the whole season! And there's always next summer.... Ahoy, sandal wearing weather! Too bad I didn't find these (much less have money for them) last month.
Now I must me to work be getting, and right smartly, too. So avast and swing the yardarm ho, set sail for, um, typing.
