This will be my last post from the future. I'm sure you're all waiting with baited breath. Speaking of baited breath, we went to an aquarium today. (hardehar) We're leaving Melbourne now. We entered the harbour early this morning. Michelle and her parents and I left the ship around 9 am, and took a tram into the city. From there we went to the aquarium, which was pretty neat. The fish bowl part of it, where they feed the sharks and stingrays and turtles, was the most fun. We watched them feed. The stingrays totally mauled the divers for food. I think I got some good shots of that. There was a coral atoll thing up top, too, which was all right. I was expecting something bigger, from the description. But it had some really neat fish and sharks, and I took pictures there, too.
From there we took a tram and walked to the Melbourne Museum. Michelle's mom has asthma, so it took a little longer to walk there than it might have, but she was game to walk it, so we did. It was probably about a mile or so. It was difficult for her to walk that far. But we got to see some of the city that way. We saw Parliament, a theater that was built in 1873 or so, and some other fancy architecture. Melbourne is pretty big, actually. I snapped a few photos as we were pulling out. It sprawls, with big buildings for some ways. The weather was extremely nice; probably 80s. Warm and sunny and pretty. We walked through some lovely parks to get to the museum. Lots of business people out on their lunches. Some of the guys in suits were checking us out. ;p I don't usually see that, so that made me giggle.
The museum wasn't all that special, but it had a few neat exhibits. The Melbourne exhibit was closed until tomorrow, though, which kind of sucked. But it was fairly cheap, and the aboriginal stuff was interesting. Then we took a cab back to the ship, and I got a massage because they're on special, now the cruise is almost over. It was reflexology and massage. It felt really good. I wish I could afford massages on a regular basis. My shoulders could sure use it.
Tomorrow is our last day at sea, and our last day of the cruise. Friday we dock in Sydney, and then the four of us are going straight to the airport, and missing out on Sydney all together. Bummer. But at the same time, I'm kind of vacationed out. I'm really ready for my own bed, and my own food, and my own pets. And it may take me a few days to not sway all the time. I've got the sea legs down. But the land legs might take awhile to get back.
I'll be back from the future soon, and see some of you at Norwescon. I'll bring pictures, and my tired, slightly sunburned self. It should be fun for y'all to poke me and make me make noises and drool on myself.
