I just defriended someone. It is something I rarely do. But I found more and more that this person's page contained politics I could not support, comments that supported torture and were violently and shamelessly partisan, and a whole view of the world that I could not bear. I am not, and I have never been, a fan of American right-wing machismo

Sorry about your defriending experience (and what led up to it), but I enjoyed the Dawkins=Oates line.

Glad to hear that - I was worried it might be too erudite. I still have a lot of goodwill for this person, but how can I be expected to take part in his comment threads when they become an orgy of things I totally disapprove of?
