Focus on the happies

- Went to see Stephen K. Amos last night at the Forum Theatre. That venue is so not made for rows of seating. Last time I was there was for Jason Mraz last year and that was standing room (with the standard booths towards the back) but for the comedy festival, they brought out these really uncomfy chairs and lined them all up like regular theatre seating. I guess they would have been okay for... skinny people but since I am not, it was like shoulder to shoulder seating and yeah, very squishy.

Anyway, the show was great! I don't think he's as good as Danny Bhoy but still very good. Oh and haha; another testament to my completely broken gaydar - I never actually thought Stephen was gay. I always thought he was very theatrical in his acts (he had dancers for the opening and closing) and somewhat flamboyant with speech (and shirts) but I just never put two and two together... *sigh* I'm hopeless lol

At the start, he wanted someone to keep a "laugh count" of sorts - on paper. And this guy was dobbed in my his friend and he really didn't want to do it! And so Stephen chose someone else and made only slight references back to him sort of not being a good sport about it. He even remarked how everything he said was for a laugh and it was all to "find the funny" (the name of the show) and nothing he said was real.
At the end Stephen closed his act and that guy stormed out and Stephen came back on and goes "hmm... yeah... that was awkward... that guy wouldn't look at me all night and was *frowny face*" and then said goodnight. So yeah - awkward...

- Watched August Rush the other night. I totally love it! It is so sentimental and gushy and not meant for cynics lol but I thought it was beautiful and the soundtrack is amazing.

- I might've mentioned I've been trying to watch most of the promo stuff Michael J. Fox has been doing to promote his new book (Always Looking Up - picked it up today! Excellent so far!) and this interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show is my favourite. Oprah's one was good too (I was just as shocked to see him ice-skate)

I actually clicked on his 1999 interview on The Daily Show by accident and yes he has not aged! But you can see the effects on his movements and facial expression though...

And, and... did you see his chair!? His swivel chair had strings attached from the seat to the wheels to stop it from spinning! I'm thinking it might've been a last minute thing they realised before shooting? And couldn't bring another appropriate-looking chair in? Huh.
