At the Bobbi Brown media preview last week, we were all given a goodie bag according to a quiz we filled up…
I ended up with mostly Cs, which defined me as “Pretty Bold” and I went home with a happy little package containing these goodies!
Eyeliner Brush & Lip Brush
The boldest item in the box for me has to be the lip color (well eyeliner can be bold too, but lets not go there) - I won’t say I’m a really bold person (the red lipstick award still goes to Sophia (
Make up Blogette), haha) but hey, no harm giving it a try!
The Creamy Matte Lipstick glides on easily and is pretty moisturizing - it doesn’t accentuate my dry lips lines, but this baby isn’t very long lasting either - it doesn’t stain much (yay? or nay?) and transfers off easily. But you know, I always think that the action of reapplying lipstick is sexy (as long as you don’t open your mouth like a yawning chimpanzee) and that touch ups are unavoidable so that doesn’t bother me too much.
This color strangely works for me even though it’s a red with warm undertones (almost orangey - I usually stick to darker reds with blue undertones), and I think it’s because of my current hair color (blonde and green) which made this lipstick color stand out more. Interestingly, it looks like I just bit someone’s neck and sucked a pint of blood while I was wiping it off halfway.
With these items (which worked out just nicely for the entire face, haha) I did up a look (and a pared down version).
And, the “two” looks - actually just with and without lip color la, hahaha.
which do you think is more me, the left or the right?
For both looks, I’ve used mostly BB items:
Eyeshadow: BB Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in 3 Gunmetal, BB Long-wear Cream Shadow in 22 Platinum, and BB Eye Sparkle in 04 Mica.
Eyeliner: BB Gel Liner in Granite Ink
Mascara: BB Extreme Party Wear
Blush: BB Blush in Apricot
Contour: BB Eyeshadow in Slate (used sparingly)
Lips: BB Creamy Matte Lip Color in Red Carpet + ZA Lip Drops in Sweet Sweet for the pared down look
Concealer: Benefit FakeUp
Eyebrows: Heavy Rotation Eyebrow Palette 02
Red Look
Parted my hair to the side in a ponytail, and voila, instantly I look more polished (I should part my hair like this all the time).
Change of lip color
I kept the blush and the eyeshadow, but a change in lip color makes a whole lot of difference!
For this look, I dabbed the creamy matte lipstick in Red Carpet gently for that bit of color - and then applied ZA’s Lip Drops in 11 Sweet Sweet over it for a fresher look.
Eye make up
The cream eyeshadow was a little hard to use for me - I think I need to use a better brush or work faster to prevent it from turning too chalky. The blush in apricot… doesn’t look apricot at all - it’s more like a pink, but leans slightly peachy and the color’s fab!
I love the Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Gunmetal! It’s really really pretty and useful for a smoky look - and the Eye Sparkle in Mica’s my favorite for when I have no time, but need a little something on my eyelids - no need to be precise, just sweep over lids for an instant sparkle! Also can be layered over existing eyeshadow colors to make them more sparkly.
Thanks for the very useful goodie bag, Bobbi Brown Singapore! ;)
