Never in all my born days and I first read "The Hobbit"  47 years ago -- never did I consider Bilbo Baggins to be sex symbol.  Or Thorin Oakenshield..  Well guess what.  I have changed my mind

The more I see pics of Martin Freeman as Bilbo the more I am utterly convinced he is just prefect for the role. He has me believing. Back in my freshman year of high school I discovered The Hobbit in our school library. What a find! I gobbled it up and then charged into LOTR
Truly, between the two I always preferred LOTR Over Hobbit The little band of four intrepid hobbits who join up with another five individuals captured me in ways no books ever has. Still, I am eagerly awaiting The Hobbit movie. I only wish I had a pal to go see it together.

AS for War Horse, I saw that film and found it remarkable, beautiful, and very painful but glorious in the end. However, I completely understand your pov. For anyone who loves horses, its a very painful piece.

They have a very seasoned band of principals in this case and I think way better known going in, especially with Sherlock. I wasn't focused on the Hobbit til I realized Martin Freeman was Bilbo. The casting and how they do Thorin and Kili and Fili is brilliant considering what we know will happen to them. Some of the regulars, like Jed Brophy etc are so used to working with Jackson he could ask them to stand on their heads and spit nickels and they'd do a brilliant job. We also have technology that has developed over the intervening 9 years since LOTR. This will be AWESOME. I already have my ticket for Friday.
