From here.Laini is conversing quietly with River, while Puck eyes the symbols on the portal, reaching out towards the wood. Duo, leaning against one of the totem poles, didn't seem to be paying any attention, until he slaps Puck's hand away without opening his eyes

River gets to her feet first, just in time to kick what appears to be a walking mushroom when it tries to stab her with the knife and fork it is carrying. It goes tumbling off the rock, bowling over several more who seem to be marching singlemindedly in their direction, all bearing cutlery.
"Christ on a crutch!" Duo scrambles backward from the edge of the rock they are perched on, clinging to the slimy surface. Puck is staring at the glowing fungus adoring the walls, then leaping back as two more of the mushroom-men attempt to scramble up onto their rock.
River dodges them both as well, while Duo makes frantic 'go-go-go' motions at Puck. "Whatever you did, do it again and quick!"
Puck stares at the symbols on the portal in front of him while he holds one of the smaller mushrooms at arm's length by its cap. "Master Maxwell, I don't quite think-"
"OBVIOUSLY NOT. NOW DO SOMETHING!"
"You're fast," River puts in from behind them. She sounds focused, but not particularly concerned. "Be faster."
So, tossing away the small one (pity, it might have been tasty) he puts a hand to one of the sigils. The portal opens long enough for them to shove back the rest of the mushrooms and jump through-
