River's hand is lifted curiously to a small, fluttering creature, which nudges a tiny nose against her fingertip.

"I don't see Laini." Duo's frowning at the portal and the sun-drenched hills around them. "We can look around... Puck, what are the other settings on this? ...Guys?"

"That creature," Puck informs River, completely ignoring Duo, "is liable to bite you. I shouldn't be surprised if you get -- ooh. Hello, sweet." This is to a new mini-pegasus, which trails sparkles behind its beating wings.

Duo, behind them, facepalms with an audible smack.
