Foxx's 26th

Just wanted to give a quick thank you to all who wished me a happy birthday yesterday (I promise I'll respond to all of you guys individually). It was a great day I had.

My day started out just like any Saturday would. I had some business to attend to before some fun ensued. First on my apartment hunt, I went back to that one apartment place I mentioned two posts back to put in an application. The lady at the desk was just finishing up on a new tenant when I walked in. Once she got done, I gave her my application and she processed it right on the spot. A few seconds later, not only did she say I was approved, but she also said that as soon as she can get an apartment together, I can get my keys next week AND she's giving me both April and May's rent free! So I scored big time on that. I'll finally be able to have some piece of mind for once. After that, I had to go up to my uncle's place to do some more simple tech work on his computers. I wasn't planning on staying any longer than I wanted to because if it were up to him, I'd be there all night working on this stuff. Well, while that was going on, I heard from stryder619 that his buddy Nate and his fiance were having a get together at Dave and Buster's to celebrate her birthday which was the day before, so I decided to join them.

I headed for Dave and Buster's right after I left my uncle's house and caught up with Nate and his fiance Bonnie. Took part in some D&B gaming until Walt, artistic_idol, posibolt, and Shawn showed up. We were all going to eat while we were there, but the diner was unfortunately full and with our group it would be next to impossible for all of us to get in. So at that point, we went to Nate and Bonnie's place in St. Charles. It was my second time overall being there. They have a really nice setup there with a mega huge 46" LCD full HDTV which is absolutely perfect for gaming. I followed Nate and Bonnie straight there and the other four came a while afterwards. The plan was this...Nate wanted to show everyone the FIRST EVER live action Dragon Ball movie. The crapfest that's in theaters now is not the first one, contrary to popular belief. Oh, no! This one we were being shown was an old Taiwanese flick done back in I think either the 70s or 80s. And while it's not as bad as Evolution in theaters, it's still pretty wretched. I mean, you have an all Thai cast, the English voiceovers were pretty horrible, and half of the time it doesn't look anything like Dragon Ball apart from the crystal Dragon Ball props that were used (they were called Dragon "Pearls"). But...if there is one GOOD thing I can say about that movie, it's this: MASTER ROSHI WAS MASTER ROSHI!!! I'm dead serious!!! The actor that did Roshi did him to a T! He look exactly like him as he did in the Anime...he had the big glasses, the stick, and even the turtle shell on his back! Master Roshi was the saving grace of what is a very corny and cheesy 80s Thai movie. Then after we had our laughs, Nate showed off the power of his TV and his emulation PC that he has hooked up to it. We got to see PS2 games on a PS2 emulator literally rendered in full 1080p high definition! We got to see games such as Final Fantasy XII, Shadows of the Colossus, and even Kingdom Hearts II in full HD, and all three of them looked absolutely beautiful!!! There was an option on his emulator that allowed you to see what the game would look like in it's native resolution, and believe me when I say you will definitely see the difference!!! It is that noticeable!! This makes me now want to get my upcoming 32" HDTV at full 1080p (and so happens that I know where to find one, and for a really low price, too). After that, we got involved in party games. We played Super Monkey Ball (I won two and a half out of all three party modes in the game, tying with Eric in one of them) and we played this Karaoke type game on the Xbox 360 called "Lips." Didn't like the song selection (both available in the game or from Xbox Live Marketplace, but some of them were to my liking. After singing like nuts, we then departed, tired and buzzed (some of them, myself not included of course).

Overall it was really fun. I loved it. One of the better birthdays I've had in a long time.
