Broadband Option Number 2

It looks like I made a miscalculation on the ordering of cable internet in this house. Seems that the family's cable line here is illegal, so the step-mom canceled my order to prevent my miscalculation from sending them to jail. Damn parents! I want to hurt them sometimes. So with that in mind, it would seem that my quest for broadband came to an end right then and there. But everyone knows that I don't give up so easily...not with out a fight. This wasn't over by a long shot, short stuff. I went back online and looked up DSL service in the St. Louis area again. One service, which when I checked the first time wasn't available in the area, came to me in a hurry...the dreaded EarthLink. Not only were they in the area, but it was compatible with my OS as well. So, as much as I hated EarthLink (I had their dial-up service at one point as a trial offer and it pretty much sucked), and the possibility of having Broadband Option Number 1 was out of the question, I had no choice but to sign up for Broadband Option Number 2. I ended up ordering 6.0 Mbps service which costs me $19.99/mo for 3 months and $39.99 afterwards (which honestly isn't bad to be honest...I just hope the service works). The installation kit should be here sometime next week. So that makes me a happy fox for the moment.

I also bought a new video card for my computer. It's an VisionTek ATI Radeon 9250 that I got from Wal-Mart (shut up!). It's not the best card in the world, but then again, I don't have the best computer in the world. But at least it solves some of my video problems. With this 475 MHz AMD K6, I can't really do much with it. I can't take this thing up any farther than 384MB of RAM, which sucks because most applications that I want to have require 512MB or higher. I'm just gonna have to upgrade this thing as far as I can take it and be happy with what I got. It's gonna be a long while before I'll be able to get another system.
