What I'm writing right now
Both "Contempt" and "300-Year-Storm" (previously titled "Flood") need revisions. Even though "Contempt" is the more meaningful story, "300-Year-Storm" is a fantasy, and I've already sold one fantasy, and two more sales makes me eligible for membership in the SFWA. I should keep going in the direction where I've already had success, however minor. "300YS" has ballooned up to 12,000 words, which makes it a weaker sell for the short story market. But, while I was subbing high school English last week, I dreamed up a shorter version of "300YS" (in my mind I've started calling them "cub versions"). Dropped some characters, changed genders, simplified setting. A whole new story.
