President Zomney

If there's anyone who actually reads my journals, and then if there's anyone who actually reads my journals and hadn't seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TiXUF9xbTo then go see it now.

I love Joss. It's crazy how much I love Joss. He's brilliant and hilarious and behind most of my favourite things. As you (imaginary people) may have noticed.

But I'm so disappointed now. I thought Joss of all people would know the difference between zombies and the infected, mindless walking dead monsters that plague our screens these days.

He knew the difference back in the time of Buffy!

In 2.02 "Some Assembly Required", Xander and Giles discuss zombies, with Xander under the impression that a zombie is a "28 Days Later", "The Walking Dead" type of creature and Giles correcting him.

Then, in 6.02 "Bargaining, Part Two" Anya points out to the group that a zombie doesn't eat brains unless it has been commanded to do so by its master.

Exactly. A zombie needs a master. A zombie is a corpse that has been resurrected by a sorcerer and must do the bidding of said master. It's not wandering around, tearing into people and bleeding in them or anything, unless that's what it's been order to do.

What we're seeing so much of lately, those are not zombies. They're just undead or infected creatures that have been to basic animalistic functions.

I don't know what to believe anymore. I'm so disillusioned.

On a side note, those zompires that have been running around season nine? Also not zombies. For the reasons explained above. Just vampires with limited brain processes.  I didn't complain about it, though, since I didn't mind Xander either not knowing or not caring because he thought it sounded cool anyway. Besides, he already forgot learning that once. Characters should not be omniscient. Just because you know something doesn't mean they have to. Just because Xander's been told twice that what he thinks are zombies doesn't mean it'll stick.

btvs season six, just saying, explanation exposition, xander, so here's the story, 6.02 "bargaining part two", giles, buffy the vampire slayer, zompire, btvs season two, omg!, 2.02 "some assembly required", joss whedon, anya, oogly-booglies, cavemen vs astronauts, btvs season nine
