New Altar!

Wow!  Our covenor, Meadow's husband (who is not Wiccan/Pagan) is a very talented carpenter.  He got a notion to build the coven a new altar.  Our old one was a slab of granite shelf on top of a cut-off chunk of tree which, over the past five years has become a home for a large population of various insects and was really about to fall over.  Okay, it was falling over.  It was listing so badly that things were falling off it during rituals.  So he surprised us with this new altar.  Or coven meeting today consisted of removing the old altar, installing a bed of pea-gravel, setting the new altar (which weighs a ton!), cleaning up and laying new mulch in the circle.

What do you think?  Isn't this the most amazing altar?  We are so thrilled and can't thank Meadow and her husband enough for the wonderful gift!

Here's the circle as you approach it from approximately the south-west.  Yes, our altar faces north.  Get over it.

And here's the cool new altar!  The sun-beam hits the altar through a hole in the trees pretty much dead-on midday from about Litha until about Lughnasadah,
