I think you all have probably already gathered that we saw Pirates last night. I had never heard any of the music (that I remember) other than Modern Major General, so it was a real treat for me, doubly so since it was a fantastic performance. I think the Union Theatre is becoming one of my favourite venues in London - consistantly great performances in a small space that they make work very, very well. It just goes to show that the theatrical experience doesn't actually need the grand theatres seating huge numbers of people and expansive stages with elaborate sets - all that is very nice, but not essential. Sometimes, the places that provide the most challenges inspire the best theatre. And this theatre is very much a labour of love, but wow do they do a fantastic job. And all for £15 per ticket. Doesn't get much better than that!
