So we had just about the perfect weekend - a ramble on Saturday got us outside and into the sunshine. It was in Sussex and we had lunch near a really neat looking castle with a historic steam railway nearby. The lunch stop was too short to actually go into said castle, but that's ok. I didn't have a camera with me anyway (d'oh!). Sunscreen meant we didn't burn, but we still got just a bit more colour. At the end of the walk, I was still feeling pretty good, though my knees made a bit of noise the next day. Slowly, slowly my endurance will improve. Still, a lovely day in beautiful countryside, which just reinforces some of the things I really love about England. Good stuff.
Sunday was Meeting as usual and then we had Ms. Frog and Boy over for games and tea - we taught them Settlers of Catan and then we finally took off the plastic on the new version of Balderdash we got for Christmas. The last time I played the game was still when it was just making up definitions. The new version mixes movies, obscure people and acronyms in as well, which actually turned out to be quite fun. They also brought us books to read!! I knew I liked them for a reason. =) So, yes, lovely to see them again and we all made a resolution to do this more often.
On another upside, it seems that the flaking skin on my eyelids was indeed due to dryness. Desperate, I decided to try Ms. Frog's suggestion of Dream Cream and within a few days it was almost completely clear. Thank goodness, as I was really dreading the other options - though, a huge thanks goes out to
beetlebush for helping me start to narrow that potential minefield.
This week at work is going to be a doozy. I have a new minion starting on Tuesday (finally!), which is both good (long term relief in my job) and difficult (training means everything takes twice as long). So, the idea is to focus on the positive and barrel through the negative. I do think though that for my next job I want to move as far away from talking about money as possible. It's really starting to wear me down. The other downside is that they've moved my desk into the basement with the rest of my new group (my new manager wants everyone to sit together), so no more natural light for me. Not that I was getting much in my old office, mind you, but every little bit helps. I suppose this is a good impetus for me to start going outside again at lunchtimes. I need light.
Looking ahead, Yoga tonight and possibly Thursday, West Side Story on Wednesday, and then we start the packing on the weekend! One of the things I'm really looking forward to in moving into our new flat is that it is pretty much a blank canvas, so all the decorating is mine to do. The walls and floor are all pale, so I'm thinking of lots of colour and probably getting more of our pictures printed to hang on the wall. I'd like to have stuff up for once that is meaningful to us.
So, yes, now for getting dressed and getting on with the week. Chin up!
