Guys, I am the worst TV viewer ever. :( I don't really watch the screen when I'm watching, so sometimes I assume things happen and they don't, and other times I think they didn't happen and they did.
I AM SO CONFUSED.
I used to be someone who watched REALLY ATTENTIVELY, and now I am not, which means not only did I not follow the complicated plot of Vampire Diaries (and spoiled people on Twitter in the process- sorry, bbs :( I wasn't thinking), but I DIDN'T FOLLOW THE COMPLICATED PLOT OF COMMUNITY.
I thought Jenna was dead when she attacked Greta. Then I thought she killed Greta. Then Klaus staked her and I thought she was just hurt, not dead, because STEFAN GOT BETTER, RIGHT? I JUST NOW figured out that Elijah probably used vampire speed to run away with Klaus, because I was trying to figure out how he teleported somewhere. I am still not entirely sure who was there for the final battle and who survived. IDEK, you guys.
I don't accept that Jenna's dead, though, so I'm hard at work on my denial, and I think I'm cool with it at this point. We never actually saw HER PHYSICAL BODY get put INTO A GRAVE, right? Bonnie and Elena both survived their deaths; I can fanwank this. She can be my DL.
But I am pretty sure that is better than getting confused between Jeff and the Black Rider. THEY DON'T EVEN LOOK ALIKE. /o\
I'm debating the value of NOT watching these things live, because when I watch on my phone on the subway or on a DVD binge viewing, I don't have these problems.
I also didn't follow the reward part of Wednesday's Survivor, but I'm pretty sure that's because it didn't make sense.
I'm confused like everyone because WHY WOULD YOU CHOOSE THAT MIKE, YOU MAKE TERRIBLE CHOICES, obvs, but also from a much more basic place.
Dude, they LOST THE GAME. I realize RI is part of the game now, but THEY WERE VOTED OUT. Redemption Island was originally held up as some kind of punishment, a limbo between Loser Lounge/Ponderosa and the game, but instead there's three people, they have about as nice a shelter as they had at the main camp, and they got a chance for individual reward with the RI win. How is that punishment?
More importantly, the people who ARE STILL IN THE GAME had no chance to win. I think that's what bothers me more; they shouldn't be penalized for not having been voted out, which if Mike were more spiteful or less stupid would have happened. HOW IS THAT FAIR, MR PROBST? HOW IS THAT FAIR?
And then on top of that, you don't even need to WIN at Redemption Island. You just need to NOT LOSE. What the shit is that?
...I have a lot of Survivor feelings about things like that.
I have no feelings on the vote, though, because whatever, PREDICTABLE. I liked Andrea, she was my favorite, but she didn't have the kind of paranoia that you need on this game. I will continue to find her adorable on Twitter, though.
I know a lot of people disagree with me, but no one but Rob is even CLOSE to deserving the win. Matt was totally a valid choice during the first half of RI, but I really don't feel that way now that (a) he's been voted out twice, (b) he's come in second on a bunch of RI challenges (but it's okay because we're JUST AS BIG A TRIBE AS THE ACTUAL TRIBE WTF), and (c) he wants to quit but is staying in because of God.
(God is probably on Team Mariano, just so that he doesn't have to deal with Rob's inevitable FIFTH season after he finishes his History Channel show. (That is not a joke. Rob is ACTUALLY GOING TO HAVE HIS OWN HISTORY CHANNEL SHOW. 4x Survivor, 2x Amazing Race, and 1x that weird show where he's trying to be a professional poker player and Amber is like "lol oh honey no" was APPARENTLY NOT ENOUGH.))
Many people seem to think the edit is setting up Matt to win, but after tonight's episode, I think it actually might be Mike. THE GODLINESS PASSED THROUGH MATT TO HIM. Also he's a former Zap, which means his tribe will all vote for him. Also also he's a WAR VET. Yeah, the million's his.
Although I do think this week's edit is painting Rob as a way more sympathetic character. Russell this season was played as comedy, and Rob's played as tragedy. Unless he wins. And, since Probst considers this one of his top five seasons, I do think the odds are kind of in that favor.
I did not realize I had that much to say about this season of Survivor. /o\
I returned library books this week, and paid all my fines, so I'm finally getting things out of the library again. I watched JOAN RIVERS: A PIECE OF WORK (movie, then commentary track, then deleted scenes) on Tuesday. It was pretty great. I also took out A MERRY FRAGGLE HOLIDAY but I'm not in the mood to watch just yet.
I also placed holds on two TV shows: season 2 of Parks and Rec (I was told I can just skip s1?), and season 1 of Good Wife. My flist has been glowing about both, and y'all tend to have excellent taste. Also the ads for GW are SUPERB right now. I hope my holds come in soon.
My first season finales are this weekend (Fringe tonight, TAR on Sunday), so I need to start figuring out my new TV shows to hold me over til BB13 starts. Those are pretty good picks, right?
