Home from MJ!

This is the third time I've been to the con, and the third time it's been both overwhelming and absolutely amazing. There are so many fantastic people in fandom, and I love getting to meet them. I met people who are from across the world, and people who live a few blocks away from me. I hung out with people I didn't know at all and people who I'd admired from afar and people who I chat with every day but hadn't seen in AGES. (That last group of people ended up finally getting things I'd nabbed for them at Comic-Con.)

I ducked out a bit to go to the library book sale and Newbury Comics (who has two thumbs and the copy of Muppet Treasure Island with the Tim Curry puppet? THIS GIRL \o/), and on Saturday night I met up with Boston friends I missed IMMENSELY (we talked for four hours about what makes an effective Holocaust YA narrative and also what superpowers we'd have and how to play Crutchball), but mostly I went to a lot of panels and had an awesome time. Also I accidentally got pimped into some fandoms. Some of those were intentional (
celli is a MASTERMIND and I think
missmollyetc practices some form of dark magic) and some were just well-executed discussions. (I DON'T KNOW HOW I'VE NEVER SEEN THE PRETENDER, OKAY? I WILL WORK ON THAT.)

Thing that is important to note: I'm RIDICULOUSLY SHY AND SELF-CONSCIOUS, which means that I was not nearly as outgoing as many people (so, um, if I said "hi" quietly and then basically stopped? DID NOT MEAN I DON'T THINK YOU ARE AWESOME), but I was definitely thrilled with all the people I got to meet. Because you are all great.

Other thing that is important to note: after attempting to add the THIRD person to my flist that is already on there and that I routinely speak to, I realized that maybe adding people will be TOMORROW'S exercise. But if we talked, say hi! I probably like you and think you are neat!

I even promise I won't try to drag you kicking and screaming into reality TV fandom. I mean, unless you like that sort of thing. In which case, I have some gifs and commentary tracks I would like to share with you!
