This is a Melina Marchetta post.

As I'm sure all of you are aware, Melina Marchetta's next book, The Piper's Son, comes out in the US on the 9th of March. (I prefer the Australian cover, but with Melina Marchetta books, that's rarely a surprise. *cough* Jellicoe *cough*)

What you may NOT have known, because I didn't until I was informed by penmage, is that Melina Marchetta is coming to New York from the 10th and may be speaking somewhere around town during that time. This is okay, because I have already READ Piper's Son, so it will not be terrible if I have to wait a few days to buy a copy and get it signed.

You know. In addition to my good-cover copy of Jellicoe and my copy of Finnikin and maybe my copy of Gorgon in the Gully.

SEE OKAY THE THING IS. I know that with the crazy levels of adoration I have for her books it seems like I am going to do the YA lit fan equivalent of those people who gave Michael Rosenbaum the box of sex toys, but actually, I'm just going to get incredibly shy and stand in line virtually BUZZING with excitement and then get up to her and be tongue-tied for a bit before I start gushing about how much I love her books, which is far less embarrassing for any number of reasons, FANDOM.

That post goes on to say that she's written the first draft of the sequel to Finnikin, Froi of the Exiles, which will be followed by Quintana of Charyn. I'm pretty excited to get more of that universe, and I'm hoping for some &Evanjalin; who, I may have mentioned once or twice, I love.

Also she confirmed my favorite part from Piper's Son: Yes, it is that Ben.

:DDDDD

Also also,
ghost_lingering and I are doing something awesome and Jellicoe-y in the apartment. It is going to be PRETTY EPIC. (Are we telling people what it is? I can't remember. If we are I will probably mention it in the next few days. Or maybe just post a picture when we're done.)

In other book news, has anyone read THE CLOCKWORK THREE? I'm a little less than halfway through and I can already feel it treading dangerously close to my embarrassment squick; I'd like to know if it goes farther down that path or not, and possibly just get a summary of the book so that I can abandon it and move on to another book without feeling like I'm Missing Something Important.
