It's a total cheerclipse of the sun!

The first year I went on communications blackout, I kept a complete log of what I was thinking or feeling at any point. It was strangely illuminating, actually.

This year, I kept the log, but it was... pretty much boring. I went to services, I went to therapy, I cleaned my apartment, I played with numbers, I decided to do Nano this year, and I watched what was probably an unhealthy amount of TV while writing a little bit of fic.

A few media-based observations:

  1. My DVDs of Meatballs and Parent Trap are shelved right next to each other. It's adorable. I feel like Dawn Schafer.

  2. The Samantha Ronson song on the Mean Girls soundtrack is approximately eight billion times more adorable now that it's public she's hitting it with Lindsay Lohan.

  3. While organizing my DVDs, I have discovered some which are missing. And while I can accept not being able to watch them RIGHTNOW, it bothers me that somewhere, Oscar the Grouch and Jeffrey Sebelia are hanging out and I DON'T GET TO PLAY WITH THEM.

  4. You know what's hilarious, in retrospect?

This exchange in the Heroes pilot:

SIMONE: "You're like a son to him."
PETER: "That would make us like brother and sister, might be a little awkward if I ever wanted to ask you out."

More than two years later, the idea of a Petrelli being less attracted because they're siblings is so quaint. It's like Little Superpowered House on the Prairie.

Other than that, I have nothing to say about Heroes except that if you don't ship Niki/DL you are so wrong it hurts a little.

  5. I don't suppose anyone besides me would be up for a group viewing of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown...?

In conclusion, my favorite parts of the Kol Nidre service change from year to year, but this was the one for this time:
Life's harsh winds uproot the weak; its hard rains beat down upon our kin. Let those who stand support the falling, keep faith with those who lie in the dust.
To the sick, we must bring healing; and to those who are bound, release.

Sometimes, my religion's pretty awesome.
