sitting in claire's house on her dad's computer. it has a maddeningly ergonomic keyboard. sheesh this had better be worth it for my wrist health.

i woke up at 7:30 after falling asleep the night before in her parents' bed waiting for my wet clothes to dry (sat in a very wet chair).

yesterday dan and i walked to the cherry st. farmers' market (left at 7:10!!!)
we bought:
1. beets
2. purple asparagus
3. a head of purply streaked garlic
4. red summercrisp lettuce
(note that the four above things are purple)
5. swiss chard
6. round red radishes
7. a beef tongue!
8. fresh peas in the shell

other things i bought yesterday:
1. a handful of runts from community thrift
2. a michael kors [less than half-price] 3/4-length down coat with a raccoon-trimmed hood (wtf i don't even understand it, it's for norway)
3. a monster "assault" energy drink and a rehab energy drink (anticipating a gladly absent hangover)

things i ate and drank yesterday:
1. french toast (made of stale homemade bread) with maple syrup
2. ground turkey meatballs with gjetost gravy/cheese sauce (good god laughably rich)
3. lightly steamed peas with a bit of butter and parsley
4. dark chocolate peanut m&m's
5. a small glass of cream soda
6. orange-dressed beet salad with chevre on a bed of wilted beet greens
7. a pear with a little piece of monterrey jack
8. water
9. iced tea
10. one of GR's beers
11. a gin tonic
12. some cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake that katie moheb made
13. delicious authentic tortilla chips and various dips found in the edwards' fridge
14. a few cherries found in the same place
15. afore-mentioned runts

jobs i could have to support my desired future lifestyle:
1. journalism?
2. extension educator
3. public health??? (thinking some sort of job in sex ed or women's health advocacy, planned parenthood maybe??)

i think i will eventually go to iowa state after all. if they'll admit me to the sustainable agriculture program, with my degree. i'd probably do a double masters in sus ag and sociology probably researching access to nutritious whole foods across demographics or something like that. public health and welfare type stuff.

it's raining and so dark here at 9:35 AM. did you catch that crazy storm yesterday??? i love oklahoma weather even if the extremes can be unbearable. it's so mercurial. LITERALLY. :) the only thing i hate is the unrelenting wind, especially in the winter.

now i think i'll go to the nice living room and read michael pollan.

my birthday is approaching!
