So. The girls decided it'd be a good idea to ask our landlord to lower our rent, since about half of KK's students have done it successfully. They said that two of the girls are thinking of moving out due to job transfers and we'd need lower rent to get someone else into the rooms. This is halfway true: Candice is moving to a different location at work in April. She needs to live somewhere either in Dundrum or at least on the LUAS line. Seamus said no to lowering the rent and asked for email addresses of those who want to move. The girls say he's being an asshole about it. I think he has the right not to lower the rent- we signed the lease for this amount, though in Ireland it's fine if you just up and leave, it seems (or so they say). Last night Candice told me I should start eyeing other places to live and be ready to move out early because that's the mood of the rest of the house. And what if I don't want to lose my deposit? Yes, it's democracy if three vote against one, and I'm the only one who doesn't desperately need to save money for a purpose (KK for the baby, Candice for her grand Eurotrip, Rachel for loan repayment or her wedding or something), but I don't know- we just lowered the rent already with Rick moving in, and 440 is not that huge an amount to pay for rent. I'm still stuck at 570 because my room is "twice as big" as the others- but I am renting the same kitchen, bathrooms and lounge as the other girls, and that disparity just seems too huge. I can't argue now, though.
My parents are coming in 24 hours! Jens and I had a nice night in last night, in opposition to Sunday night when he was fed up from cleaning and I talked to Emma for an hour and a half instead of hanging out with him. All is now well, though. And I see my parents in one day!
