so yeah, it's been a month since my last entry.
i've been to Portugal and back, and gotten paid again by work, and the weather's gotten colder. oh, and I have suffered a nasty sore throat since Saturday, which is developing into a cough today. but other than that, life's just going. Jens and I went to the Christmas market a few nights ago and now I'm mightily anticipating the ones in Germany. did I mention I'm going to his house over Xmas? He says his sister-in-law's looking forward to speaking American with someone. It'll be wonderful to be with the family of the person I love, but still weird not seeing my own fam at all over the festive season, and celebrating every night of Chanukah with people who have never experienced it before. I'll miss the coffee table in the den topped with presents, putting candles in the window, latkes in the electric skillet, dreidel at our kitchen table and the cats playing with all the presents and wrapping paper. I'll relish the new experience of Christmas, eating Jens's dad's consciously pork-free cooking, meeting his friends, seeing his house, meeting his brother and aforementioned sister-in-law, seeing his sister and niece again, meeting his brother-in-law... seeing where he grew up. But it'll be weird not to be in the place I grew up.

I've warned him I'll probably get homesick and emo, especially with his family who will speak German most of the time. (He assures me I've picked up more than I think I have. We'll see about that one.) JSoc's having a Chanukah party tonight at Josh's place, which I've made applesauce for. I also prepped ganache for truffles last night, so I have to go make those before work. Tonight's party time- Nightmare Before Christmas before break and full-on fiesta after. They're all bringing food and drinks, and I hope some of those drinks are, you know, festive.
