picked it up and handed it in today. It's really, really, really done.
I fed the students apples and honey, and Roberto (my mostly silent student) proclaimed "I like alternative desserts. Very goodi." (that's me imitating his accent.) Ricardo, meanwhile, spent ten minutes perusing the thing and was trying to convince me last week to explain the whole thing to them during class time. I really, really like these guys. My core group stayed five or eight minutes after class doing scramble. They all were like "Happy new year!" as they walked out of class. Dubravko cuddled up to Steeven as we discussed partners cheating in context of a reading re: rumours about Beckham. They're just such a hoot! And the ones that are motivated, they're great at it. So good. I'm privileged to have them.
Tonight I'm finishing my weekend chores (I didn't do my single one last weekend when I was in Paris, so my punishment is doing all three this weekend) and going to Alon's for a little holiday celebration. I think he lives with Avshi, who I ran into at my 5-minute stop at the JSoc freshers' week table.
Things are all falling into place, y'know? The engraver dude says Toni and Mike's quaich is done... my thesis is done... I'm going to email Dorset again and ask the dude if he was serious about employment opportunities in early October, now that early October is pretty much upon us.
Also my check from Abbey for Sept isn't going to be as tiny as I thought it was, thank God. In doing the math before, I subtracted four days' worth of pay from a four-week check without considering that I get paid for the whole month, which had more than 16 days of work, nor that I did a bit of covering. I just need a lend of 100 or so quid for rent this month.
