the past three days: so good

monday: class, nap, guinea pigging for michelle's experiment, class, teaching. an 11-hour day with a 40-minute break for the nap.
Michelle is a PhD student who's volunteered to be the doctor for the boat club in exchange for them helping with her thesis project. I'm no longer on the club, but the project revolves around an erg, so she recruited me. She's studying the effects of menstrual cycle on athletic performance, so she sat me down on the erg and had me go for 3-minute periods, increasing the watts by 20 each piece, with a minute's rest in between. And she took blood samples for hormone levels, and it's just fun. I'm going in again next week to test during a different phase of the cycle.

tuesday: JSoc bake sale; seeing avi for the first time since the dumpage. we agreed that the relationship was really bad (physically and psychologically) for both of us as it turned him into an alcoholic, made him gain weight and he stopped taking his bipolar meds. as for me, it completely undermined my self-confidence. so. anyway, after ten minutes of ULTIMATE TENSION, he went to lunch with his dad. when he later returned, things were a bit better, and they kept getting better bit by bit for the next few hours. Josh and Michael also showed up, representing the entirety of (what i've ever seen of) the young Jewish male community in Dublin. (speaking of Jewish males, 2/3 of the JSoc board hasn't seen our treasurer in weeks. Hmmmm.) I voted at the primary in a pub (hurrah for Democrats Abroad!!), met up with Ben to watch Firefly and receive a bit of a back rub and discovered that my shoulders are as tense as, like, steel wires on a bridge. Then Michael texted me that Avi was on the rebound, asking out a girl that 1) M was interested in and 2) avi called "a younger, fitter" version of me. No news whether Avi was successful, as I spent the next hour texting M reassurances that he's lovely and wonderful and worth people's time to hang out with and isn't gonna be alone all his life and should stop acting like a doormat and is a fantastic guy and ... and ...
Shit can get old, y'know?
End of the evening spent talking to david and irritating my itchy eardrum.

weds: called the tax office so i can get paid, went to class, saw michelle because i gave myself an ear infection or at least inflammation last night, made today's lesson plan, went to another class, picked up ear meds, taught today's lesson plan, and stayed up in hopes I'd get to talk to some more people, one of whom copped out on me. in totum, 9 hours of workage.
ah, well. some enjoyable and busy days!

in terms of teaching: the class is coming along well. I'm learning each student and getting to like all of them. Today I promised them a listening lesson on country music. I'll get out the cowboy hat.

since my e-undate has canceled on me, I'm outta here and off to bed. Oh, and when TCD dorms close in June I'm gonna move somewhere with Karolina, and this week I'm going to Rocky Horror with her and even before that, we're going to a new exhibit in TCD having to do with light and science. Also, I won some contest online and got a 25-euro voucher for a supermarket. Wahey!

breakup, good day, boys, jsoc, friends, health, tired
