yesterday at lunch, we sat in a booth directly behind Luke. Here's the story: at the very end (we're talking last weeks, here) of senior year of HS, I went on a "date" with him once, he kissed me, and then told me we were "good friends" -- and then, the second-to-last day of school and my eighteenth birthday, I decided to make a statement and kiss him on his way to class.
Thing is, I closed my eyes at the last minute, and I missed.
I think we talked a little bit on MSN when I got to the Deis, but you can understand my reluctance to talk to him in person after that little event.
Anyway, he was with some other people, and when he stood up I saw the reality of the Freshman (and sophomore and junior) Fifteen-and-then-some. Not too unhappy to have missed out.
Thursday night, we were privy to one of the intensest thunderstorms I remember experiencing. Just like during my Crestmoor canvassing, there was hardly a five-second period without thunder -- but this one was directly over our heads and came complete with hail. At 1am. It was the first time in a very long time I can remember being honestly scared by lightning, rather than excited.
Today the 'rents and I went to Lakewood on Parade, which was cute. Ran into Mayor Steve and chatted for a while -- it's fun to be on a first-name basis with your city's mayor. I also got to try playing a violin at the Rockley display, and got the first arpeggio of Bach's Cello Suite in G right off the bat.
