....where Spring decided to pull an April Fool's joke on us. it's in the 30s today, alternating between rain and snow. also, I have no food except matzah, nuts, selected tea, and quickly diminishing seder leftovers. Lucky for that second point, Becky's going this afternoon and I get to tag along -- maybe even to Stop and Shop. cause I need me some kosher yogurt, mayo and ketchup (the funny thing, though, is that the fridge in this apartment has, I think, three full bottles of chametz ketchup, and another in sporadic use. And at least five containers of chametz mayo. At least.) Also, no gum out there is soy-lecithin-free, and soy is a no-go. What's a girl to do?
yesterday: adventures in planes. Our first one had a problem with the plumbing (detectable only by computer, thankfully, and not our noses) that required an hour and a half of technicianing before they invited us to go to the terminal to use restrooms and buy food if we needed. I ate a banana.
Another half-hour later, the good-spirited pilot informed us we'd have to switch planes. As I exited she grinned at me. "Thanks for flying United." The highlight of my day was that guffaw.
The second plane had a faulty primary generator, requiring 45 minutes to test that the secondary one could handle the load of the flight, then refuel the plane because it used up gas in said engine and generator test. I ate an apple.
Three hours late, we took off. In the process I befriended a girl from Northeastern also on her way back from Pesach, and the couple sitting next to me, both college professors on their way to the husband's conference where he'd be presenting on LBJ. They said I looked like their daughter and was built like her; they wanted to know if I played soccer. I ate a few stale sugar-free Mentos from the airport.
after arriving in Logan, Becky and I went through some mishaps finding each other. Rachael's plane was late. After surviving since 9am on two pieces of fruit, I went through my suitcases for the matzah and nuts, even managing some semi-frozen leftovers with bare hands. Then we got home in the rain and cold.
this morning's row started out okay; it was the Zoom Zoom lineup but port-stroked, so each pair switched seats. We were off to starboard all day. Then Becky switched in for Sarah and it turned to crap. "Sluggish" is the aptest adjective. Oy.
so. book study, job, book study, shopping, row, dinner, book study. yay.
