a couple of the past few weeks, I've taken Shabbat more seriously... just not done real work during the day... and I've liked it. I don't know if I'll have the chance during the semester, but I hope I can at least take a nap during the day. It's how I meditate.
anyway, ETA 5:40pm -- went sledding with Z, Zivvy, and AJ. Less good times this time because the snow was crispy due to its melting and refreezing. Also, Zivvy banged his knee pretty solidly on a tree.
Last night Evan and Oz and I went to karaoke and each got a total of one song in before leaving for Rocky. We got to the theater to learn that Denver Rocky can no longer find a venue to perform and so there is no show. we went to Denny's and ate grease instead. Heartbreak.
I just came back from the prospie schmooze. The kids were cute, though some smarter than others... and I took like 20 minutes trying to explain linguistics to this one girl who thought that historical linguistics meant studying hieroglyphs, minority languages were Latin and ancient Greek, and, of course, that ling means learning every language of the world. but I had lots of quality time with susan and met her cat (one of three), maggie.
then I got home to dad saying the modem is malfunctional, and now is in a rare moment of lucidity. it will take 2-3 days from monday to ship a new one. hello, the library and places with wireless access.
