So Clay's dad is going to Malawi.
clay: he's going with engineers without borders and the clinton foundation (yes, that clinton)
clay: like, one of the guys in his group is clinton's ex-major aide of some sort.
i: damn!
clay: he was specifically requested by ewb, who was requested by the cf, who was requested by bill, who was requested by nelson mandela, to do something about drinking water in malawi.
Also, I met someone on the internets. His name is Diarmaid (must remember, this one is -maid and not -muid) and he kayaks and studies chemical engineering in UCD. we're having enjoyable chats (all 45 minutes' worth that we've had).
Ran for a grand total of 40 minutes; discovered halfway through that Aqua is lovely as running music... even though all of their upbeat songs have the same tempo exactly, and it's about half a beat too slow to match with my jogging pace. Still haven't showered because I've been talking to Diarmaid, though. And now I'm talking to Lauren and Kinsler.
we had a fantastical pouring rainstorm for about half an hour this afternoon. I fell asleep on the couch with my face bathed in sunlight, and awoke a few minutes later to sheets of rain. It was gorgeous to watch.
We (being me, ash, and katie) were going to go into town today, find a coffee shop and do work, but then we... didn't. My goal for the day is to finish the Bettina essays and outline the one for Feargal.
No session tonight as it's a bank holiday. The world starts operating again tomorrow, thankfully.
quotes of the day:
steph -- "When I see you, I laugh!"
(not sure if it's a good thing, but she says it is.)
and me -- "this thing reads like a bible."
(on lord of the rings: the return of the king.)
