the quote is attributed to my favorite Get Fuzzy comic strip ever.
I have been craving fries (chips, here) in the worst way for a couple of days now, but I don't know where to get them aside from Eddie Rocket's in Donnybrook. I'm talking yummy fries here, not McDonald's freaking fries, although if I needed to, I think those would suffice. But it'll probably have to wait until after the homestay, unless I feel like going into town tomorrow during the day... which I do not.
it is a very, very windy night. The wind blows and whistles through our warped windowpane and a few drops of the heavy (for the first time) rain are coming through. I want to talk to the reception about that and my mattress. Time between classes tomorrow will be for errands: that and also seeing about Ritalin and a bank account here.
tonight I saw Noam Chomsky talk on why and how the US and Britain are very quickly running towards the extinction of the human species. I'd have loved to see his talk on linguistics tomorrow night instead, but I'm going to be at my homestay by then, so alas. This one was very, very good. I'd love to sit in on any class he teaches at MIT. After Noam's talk, I hung out with the French crowd, who made crepes and had laughs. I probably understood a good half of what they said, which was good. And I brought Nutella for the crepes, which was a good idea. It was wonderful to eat homemade crepes, though. It really was. And tasty, to boot.
Bedtime for this little tomato. It's so cold that my ankle is achy. But I don't want to go to bed because my mattress hurts me... damned if I do and damned if I don't. Dang.
