the first time you sneeze, as we learned in HS, another says "A tes souhaits," To your wishes.
The second time, as Stephanie told me this morning, another says "A tes amours," To your loves. "Qu'ils soient beaux et pas breux." That they be beautiful and long-lasting.
Also, pragmatics is totally cooler than semantics. It's like semantics, but infused with real-life. semantics is about what things SHOULD mean, but pragmatics is about what things DO mean. Meaning in context. like, semantics is about "Oh, yeah, you're a genius," and what that actually means, but pragmatics is all dependent on if it's really words of praise or if it's actually sarcasm. and the lecturer, Feargal, who got his PhD at Brandeis, should be fun. crazy, but fun.
