I have received this 35mm Agfacolor cassette more than a year ago. The label says "Made in Germany" and it looks like new.
This is the very same type of slide film Germans used to document WWII; to be copied later by Russians under name "CO-22".
Why it was not developed is not all clear but probably the photographer could not find suitable development service for this type of film.
It was only undeveloped roll in big family archive -- about 500 images. There were all formats, 35mm and 6x6 slides from 50s-70s. I enjoyed them; the colors on some were still bright and after a while I knew everybody by name (there were captions).
For instance, here are Eric, Jim and Vicki, 1961:
Eric is 4, Jim is 10, Vicki 8. Caption says "Golden gate park". Same place, with mom:
Here is 1958's NY, with dad, at home in Palo Alto, CA:
Eric and Jim in their room:
Eric is 1 y.o.:
and so on >>> And now this film.
Old forgotten 35mm film is development disaster almost every time. 35mm cassette film could not stand aging very well. 30, 40 years and fog level become too high to see the image.
This one has date on it: Mrz 57. March 1957 -- too old, more than 50 years.
Fortunately, this is slide film and it preserves black and white image a little bit better compared to regular black and while film.
Unfortunately, this is slide film and orange mask make in very hard to print or scan images from.
Anyway, I made all the tests and then developed the film for 3 min in cold concentrated HC-110...got 39 recoverable images.
Here are some:
The rest is here
>>> The film is more thrilling (compared to slides) despite low contrast and grain.
I am not 100% sure but it looks like the poster on the left says "Cumberland" and one on the right "Kentucky":
i.e. the place is
here>>>.
There are several kids on the images -- I counted 4.
I think I have recognized some (familiar from the slides) faces but not all of them.
For example I could not find the old lady and young woman on the slides:
I do not know who this old man is and who is the girl (if it's a girl):
I think this is Eric though I am not sure:
Older boy looks like Jim:
He is photographing (or filming).
And this little girl/big glasses, I do not know who she is:
I am positive on the car behind her: Pontiac Chieftain 1954, but the girl -- no idea. Vicki? No, looks different.
A bit of a mistery.
Film always has more when compared to just pictures with no known sequence. It is all about story/plot: went to football game; travelled to Kentucky to meet grandpa and grandma, spent weekend cleaning backyard...girl is leaving with smile on her face, she knows all the answers.
