so i work at a pet store.
the pet company in colonie center.
its godawful.
i cry at work everyday watching the puppies waste their lives away in those dirty, small fucking cages.
let me explain the worst feature there. the iso(lation) room. its a tiny little room with 9 medium sized cages. we currently have 12 dogs back there and one cat. 10 of the dogs have severe kennel cough aka dog pnuemonia. mind you its a air borne sickness and it can stay on your clothes and that means it can bring it out into the viewing cages where the "healthy" dogs are kept. and home to my puppy.
now with that let me explain how bad its getting...
- my manager made me put a 9 week old dachshaund with a slight eye infection in the iso room. heres my thought, the dogs eye is infected. he doesnt YET have kennel cough but back there, he'll get it. fucked right?
-theres a 8 week old itsy bitsy boston terrier in the iso room because he has a bad knee. not kennel cough YET.
-theres no more room in the back now, so we have a 13 week old dacshaund with k.c. in the front viewing cages.
-my idiot lazy fat fuck of a manager was sweeping out the back store room yesterday and left a pile of broken glass in the middle of the floor, for THREE FUCKING HOURS. mind you this is the room we let the dogs run around in when we're cleaning cages or giving meds or baths.
-while giving a 10 week old westie with severe k.c. his meds his tooth fell out. hes a white dog. his whole muzzle was covered in blood and he kept bleeding. the forementioned manager told me just to put him back in his cage in the iso room. so a very sick dog is in a room with other very sick dogs and has an open wound in his mouth. fan-fucking-tastic.
-my manager belittles me in front of customers because im not trying to sell dogs to his standard, im more worried about the dogs themselves and making sure if i do sell one its going to a good home.
so if anyone wants to help me organize a mass rescue of these dogs, please dog. my manager leaves me in the store by myself all day so i figure ill have pple come get the dogs and ill say i was held at gunpoint haha. no cameras in the store either. should be easy.
i called the corporate offices today to complain about the manager and the store conditions. if they dont do anything in 3 dyas im caliing animal control and having them come check it out. it sucks because the store looks sooo clean and nice from the outside. but the back esp. the iso room is beat.
yeah so thats that. i want to leave but i cant. i cant leave knowing the dogs need somone who gives a shit. and im one of the 3 people there that care about the animals not making money. its so stressful having to see how unhappy the dogs are. arghhhh..
