So yeah, last night...insanity! Actually all of yesterday was pretty nuts. This is a totaly short term memory dump or everything I can remember from like the last 48 hours.
So after like 4 hours of sleep thanks to a pretty rockin' party at Reagan's, we had the McAfee Security competition which started at 08:00. Dayne, Heise, BP, and myself were a team. For 5 hours, we fought with the router, while everybody else got the required services running. At lunch time, it was apparant that we were pretty much screwed because we had no access to/from the outside network, essentially we had nothing working from their point of view. Well I had to be at the ITS picnic, so BP and I left, as did Heise. Dayne decided to stick around and see how things went. Well apparantly we weren't the only team that had a lot of trouble with the networking, and McAfee decided to change the required topography. This and just a little tweaking allowed Dayne to get our network working. At this point, we pretty much had all of the required services running, and now they were accessable. Dayne was also the only member of our team left there. With a little help from other CSHers on 2 other teams, he was able to keep our network running strong and actually came in 2nd place. We were all very very impressed, and give him mad props for sticking it out and then doing so well.
In the mean time, I was at the ITS end of the year picnic at Lake Ontario. It was really nice up there. We all just kinda hung out and played some frisbee and ate BBQ and whatnot. Poop and I were in shorts and barefoot, despite the fact that it was only like 50 degrees out. We all also took an adventure down to a small levee type pier. The waves were crashing up on to it, which made it difficult to stay dry. It was funny watching everybody try to judge and dodge the waves crashing against the rocks next to them. I decided to walk on the rocks on the leeward side of the pier, putting myself out of reach of the waves. Somehow I was the only person to remain bone dry after both going out to the end and walking back. I guess water is my element.
Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to get to Katie's dinner because I had to play at Hotshots at 7. Instead, I had Dave drop me off there on his way home which saved me some time and also made it so Brown didn't have to wait at RIT for me, because we clearly wouldn't have made it in time. Volleyball was pretty good. I had some pretty rediculous passes and digs. I think I finally destroyed my shoulder though. I can't even really lift it today. It's never hurt this much after playing before. I think bilateral shoulder surgery is in order for this summer, although if I can only have one, I'm not sure which I should get fixed. The rotator cuff problem in my right (hitting) shoulder, or the labrum tear in my left shoulder.
I got back on floor and then it was time for Wendy's last hoorah Disco party. It was definitely rockin. Everybody had a blast. It was Poop's 21st birthday at midnight, at which time, people gave him 21 spanks. I think his ass still hurts. There will be pictures of the party, including my super hot disco clothes that I bought at Goodwill for a total of about $8.00.
Then just as I was getting to sleep back on floor, Shannon called me. She was locked out of her apartment and had no way of getting it. So I got Erik and Schuyler to drive Chuck's car (thanks to all of you guys) with me to go get her. Ironically, it turns out that she lives all of 2 blocks from Wendy's, where I was not a half hour before. We brought her back and she crashed here. Well it was either that or she would sleep in the back of her car. Then in the morning, there came a knocking on my door. It was Wes, who was up from DC for a wedding, looking for a towel to take a shower. He was quite a bit surprised/confused when Shannon opened the door.
Tonight is Poop's birthday proper, which will be celebrated by dinner at The Old Toad, then probably heading to a party or something somewhere. I dunno, they just tell me, and I show up. But as for right now, we're going to clean up litter from one of the swamp areas on campus. This weekend is definitely a good cap to an amazing year, and a good kickoff for the summer. I am definitely gonna miss all the people up here, but it'll be good to get home.
