Bob accepted an offer to clerk for a NJ Supreme Court justice this afternoon. It's a lady justice! Girl power! For some odd reason (maybe "in my heart of hearts I'm a cheap bastard"?) I've been encouraging Bob to live at home during the next year while he works in Jersey and just come stay with me in NY every weekend. Although now that I give it more careful consideration, perhaps I should stop, because if Bob suggested I move back home (for any amount of time) I would tell him to lay off the crack pipe.
At any rate, I feel like I will be spending time in NJ, and while living there has been described as "a fate worse than hell" by some (including my crazy h.s. math teacher who was busted for heroin possession after I graduated), shopping there with no tax on clothing under $100 is simply heavenly. Also, there is bowling.
I'm excited for Bob! We're going out to dinner tonight, and tomorrow I was thinking of bringing in cookies to my job to leave on the counter in the main office with a sign that says "Help celebrate Bob's clerkship offer for NJ Supreme Court!". (Sometimes people bring in cookies or pastries to celebrate weddings and births and stuff, but I think no one will mind if I buck the trend a little bit because I want to bring in cookies and I'm not going to have any of those other reasons for a while yet.) This will be fun because people who know me will know what's going on, while others will ask themselves "Who the hell is this Bob chucklehead?" But everyone can eat the cookies. God bless America.
